John Bunyan said, Prayer is a sincere, sensible, affectionate, pouring out of the soul to God, through Christ, in the strength and assistance of the Spirit, for such things that God has promised.

The people, here in Acts chapter 4, are gathered to pray. Remember the persecution takes place, the first persecution of the early church, and the response to that persecution is never to stop proclaiming God's word. It is the go to God and use his word to, to be strengthened by the power of the spirit to go into proclaim his word even more.

Too often, we prioritize our comfort over courage and our safety over sanctification. We long for a life free from adversity, preferring peace and ease rather than the strength and courage to step into the uncomfortable plans God has for us.

But God often calls us out of our five-year plans, our carefully crafted dreams, and into something greater—something we never imagined. When life doesn’t go according to our plans, do we trust His purpose?

Instead of praying, *"Change my circumstances, Lord,"* let us ask, *"Give me courage, strength, and understanding to grow through this adversity."*

We’re all carrying something. We’re all facing struggles. But through them, God is refining us. Will you lean into His purpose for your life?
