📍 📍 He was concerned about what he could do with that spirit. Simon Saul. The spirit was given through the laying on of hands. He didn't know what that meant, truly because he truly didn't believe though he went through the actions. He was baptized and professed faith in Christ. He didn't actually believe because if he did actually believe the Holy Spirit would've fell upon him as well, Simon and John would not have missed out on this individual.
The True Motive Revealed A Lesson in Faith
📍 📍 He took the punishment that we deserve. He lived the life that we could not live. He died to death that we should die. He went through hell on the cross, so we don't have to go through hell in eternity. It isn't by. It is by simple, humble, gentle. Recognition that indeed we each and all fall short of God's glory. And is it by that true recognition about ourselves to Christ, that we understand that we can't save ourselves, that we have no power in and of ourselves, that we have no right to try to claim that we are the great power of God? Or if somebody would dare say that about us, we can laugh in their face because we understand who we truly are.
The Ultimate Sacrifice A Powerful Reminder
📍 📍 God wants the whole person and he will not rest till he gets us in entirety. No part of the man will do. Indeed. Simon had an intellectual understanding of the gospel, but he had no indeed, he had no internal transformation. Psalm 78 37 says their hearts were insincere towards him and they were unfaithful to his covenant, his exter, his external condition. The external condition of Simon and yourself may not be apparent to everyone or is apparent to everyone but the internal. Condition of your heart is not apparent to everyone. Only God knows your heart, so you can rest assured that God knows your heart. There's no deceiving him. There's no giving it over on God. You may trick and fool everyone, but God indeed knows there's no cause for worry here. There's no cause for concern because if your heart is not right before God. It can be if your heart is truly not transformed. It can be. It can be transformed right here, right now. And the twinkling of an eye.
Total Commitment No Part will Do
📍 📍 And as we read this, we have to also understand this timeframe is not just like a one minute, two minute, three minute, five minutes, couple hours. These could be months in between. This is taking place. Philip could have been there for a month. Preaching could proclaiming God's word. Simon could have been acting like he was a believer for weeks on end. It wasn't just a one day. His fruit was actually made known to be bad fruit, but it was made known. And now the Peter and John are there. They didn't just go there for a couple hours, maybe half an hour and talk and say, oh, holy Spirit, come on. Boom. Alright, we're out. See you later. We're gonna go preach the gospel. Other places, no, they were there spending time in God's word, being taught, coming to a good understanding. So as we continue in God's word, let us continue in God's word. Trusting and believing that attraction doesn't always lead to the proper action. We have to indeed continue in the faith of Christ, continue in the faith that it was gifted to us. Continue following God, all your heart, soul, mind, and strength continue to be concerned about the things of God. To make sure that indeed your faith is authentic.
The Gospel Takes Time Transformations Don't Happen Overnight
📍 📍 He was doing miracles in a sense. He was doing miraculous things that aren't really stated here, but we know for sure as we're introduced to even what this is as a as, as something being happening for sure. That this sorcery that is taking place is indeed where we get our word, uh, magician in a sense. So we see. Simon is indeed a magician. He's indeed a magician. Just like those individuals that we've already may have heard of in the Bible. We can see this in a couple other places from the time whenever Moses is going to Pharaoh. And he's performing these miracles by throwing his staff down and it turns into a serpent, and he does other miracles that these magicians that Pharaoh had were able to perform as well.
